Preston City Council has been forced to reiterate that it does not use QR codes for payments at its car park sites in the city centre.
Blog Preston reported last week that scammers were using QR code stickers to trick people into forking over money through the incorrect channels.
Preston City Council indicated they had removed those stickers from a number of sites – including on Penny Street – but the issue has not gone away.

New stickers have appeared at the Penny Street car park and the council has moved to remind people that there are two valid ways to pay; either in cash at pay and display machines or by downloading the app.
The app in question is MiPermit, with the incorrect app with the QR codes being paybyphone.
