Seven terrorists have been killed and many others fled with varying degree of injuries after a fierce gun battle with police operatives in Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma local government area of Katsina State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Aliyu, who confirmed this on Sunday, said the police and other security operatives battled the hoodlums when they invaded the village on Saturday morning.

Aliyu, in a statement, explained that 109 rustled domestic animals, including cattle, sheep, goat, donkeys and dog were recovered from the terrorists after the ferocious gun duel.

The statement read: “On January 18th, 2025, at about 0900 hrs, a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, sporadically attacked Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State.

“Upon receipt of the report, swiftly, the DPO, in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the KTSCWC, and the vigilante, mobilised and responded to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in the neutralisation of seven suspected armed bandits as the remaining fled the scene with various degrees of injuries, abandoning all the suspected rustled animals.”

He urged members of the public to continue to support the command by providing timely and useful information that will help the command in the ongoing war against crime and criminality in the state.
