Juventus are reportedly close to finalizing a significant transfer deal for Portuguese right-back Alberto Costa, having submitted an official €15 million bid to Vitória SC.
This bid surpasses Sporting CP’s €12 million transfer offer, and it is anticipated that the Italian club will complete the transfer within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared this development on Monday via X, noting that Juventus has also reached an agreement on a five-year contract with Costa.
He stated, “Juventus are closing in on Alberto Costa deal, exclusively revealed two days ago. Official bid sent to Vitória worth €15m package, more than Sporting with €12m. Agreement in place also with the Portuguese RB on a five-year deal. Juve wants to get it done in 24/48 hours.”
In other news, Chelsea appears to be preparing to part ways with Renato Veiga, opting for a permanent sale rather than a loan arrangement.
Veiga, who is valued at €30 million, has expressed his preference to play as a centre-back instead of a left-back. Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reports that Borussia Dortmund has reached a full agreement with Veiga regarding personal terms, making them a likely destination for the player.
“Renato Veiga is expected to leave Chelsea as the club has opened the door to a permanent exit — not a loan. Chelsea wants around €30m for Veiga to accommodate his request to play as a CB, rather than an LB. Full agreement Borussia Dortmund-Veiga on contract/project is in place,” Romano explained.
At Southampton, the Premier League side are actively working to retain Kyle Walker-Peters, whose contract is set to expire in six months.
The Saints are making a final effort to secure his signature before the January window closes. If they are unable to agree on new terms or arrange a transfer, the defender is at risk of leaving on a free transfer this summer.
Additionally, Swiss forward Noah Okafor is on track to join RB Leipzig on a €1 million loan deal, with his salary fully covered.
The agreement includes a non-mandatory buy option worth €25–28 million, and Okafor is expected to arrive in Leipzig today to finalize the move.
In another development, Boavista has turned down Trabzonspor’s €2.5 million bid for Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi.
According to the Turkish news outlet Fotomac, Trabzonspor’s offer does not meet Boavista’s valuation for the left-back, as they will only consider offers in the region of €3 million.
The 25-year-old has been a standout performer for Boavista this season and was recently voted the club’s Player of the Month for December.
Onyemaechi initially joined Boavista on loan from Feirense during the 2022/23 season before making a permanent switch.
