Escaping to Spain’s sun-soaked islands from Montreal is about to get a whole lot simpler. Thanks to a new partnership between Air Transat and Air Europa, Canadian travellers can now hop on smoother connections to some of Spain’s most stunning island spots, including Ibiza, Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca, and Las Palmas.
What’s more, starting in June 2025, Air Transat is launching its first-ever direct flight from Montreal to Valencia, making it easier than ever to explore Spain’s dreamy Mediterranean coast.
These routes open up more opportunities for Canadian travellers to experience Spain’s diverse island landscapes, from the Balearic Islands’ golden beaches to the Canary Islands’ volcanic coastlines.
With the new Air Transat and Air Europa agreement, passengers can now book single-ticket journeys from Montreal to these Spanish destinations with checked luggage transfers and streamlined connections through Air Europa’s hub in Madrid.
Additionally, for a limited time, travellers can take advantage of a 15% discount on flights to Europe, including Spain, making it an ideal opportunity to plan a trip before peak summer travel begins.
The Air Transat promo code is LO2FF15VD and is valid for travel between March 9 and June 30, 2025 (excluding travel dates between April 17 and 23, 2025). It applies to all fares, including Eco Budget, Eco Standard, Eco-Flex, Club Standard and Club Flex.
Flights must be booked between February 12 and February 14, 2025 (11:59 p.m. EST) to get the discount. It applies to all destinations, including across Europe, Florida and the South, excluding Port-au-Prince.
If you’re looking for a little Spanish island inspo and are flying from Montreal, why not consider Barcelona Walk through the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic, admire Gaudí’s surreal architecture at Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia, or relax on the sandy shores of Barceloneta Beach.
Over in Madrid, the Spanish capital blends grand boulevards with cozy, tucked-away taverns. Spend the afternoon at the Prado Museum, home to masterpieces by Goya and Velázquez, then unwind in the vast Retiro Park.
Then there’s Valencia, a city that blends modern architecture with centuries-old traditions. The City of Arts and Sciences looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, while the historic El Carmen district is full of colourful street art and charming hidden cafes.
For travellers looking for nightlife, Ibiza is an iconic destination. However, although it’s known for its world-famous beach clubs and electronic music scene, the island also has a quieter side. Whitewashed villages, hiking trails, and secluded beaches like Cala Comte offer a different perspective of the island beyond its party reputation. Meanwhile, the mystical Es Vedrà rock formation, just off the coast, is steeped in local legends and is considered one of the most scenic spots in the Balearics.
Whether it’s a cultural getaway in Valencia, a city break in Madrid, or an adventure in Barcelona, these new routes bring some of Spain’s most stunning destinations within easier reach for Montrealers. Just in time for the travel season, too!
