Local artist Susie Jones says ‘curiosity is encouraged’ for her new exhibition at SHOP Preston.

Described as an event as much as an exhibition, the images from Susie and other contributors in ‘What we see, what we tell’ will allow audiences to explore the idea of truth, perception and how much of ourselves is in what we see and how we tell stories.

After the first stop in Preston, the exhibition will tour around the UK to see how location may influence the end result. Each run will produce a version that can be placed alongside others to explore how the same images can produce differing versions of the ‘truth of a place’.

Attendees will be invited to leave their names to be credited for their contributions.

Susie said: “How do you tell the story of places, and what do they become in the hands of others?

“This exhibition is for photography lovers, artists, poets, curious folk, and anyone who wants to join collectively in an act of spontaneous storytelling.”

This is Lancashire-based artist Susie’s first exhibition showcasing her film photography work, which has become increasingly a focus for her.

Also a singer-songwriter, Susie describes herself as an adventurer in sound and seeing on a mission to connect and express.

She is a founding member of The Dissonance Collective (TDC), a group of musicians and artists creating free improvised objects and exploring sonic expression. Susie has self-released three albums and three EPs since 2008, written for projects such as the Preston Guild, and co-written with artists and songwriters across the UK.

What we see, what we tell is on at SHOP, 3 Syke Street, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 February.
