Louise Stritch, 20, has recently moved from her suburban hometown of Fulwood, Preston to the restless city of New Jersey, USA.

Last year, Louise played for the Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies team and contributed with a goal to her team’s win in the Lancashire FA Women’s County Premier League.

After receiving a scholarship, a year later she is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science and plays for Mercer County Community College in New Jersey, USA.

Reflecting on her transition from England to the United States, she said: “Compared to New Jersey, which has a more fast-paced lifestyle, Fulwood was a much smaller and quieter district.

“My friends and family are the main reason I always miss home, but I also miss the more laid-back suburban atmosphere, the sense of community, and the countryside Preston has.”

She continues to further her education in the United States whilst studying alongside playing in a football league weekly with her teammates.

Louise noted that the opportunities and amenities available in American football are equal for both men and women, in contrast to the inequalities she observed in England.
