A girl from Fulwood has cut off 12 inches of her hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs to children with cancer.

Keziah Wallace, 9, who attends Fulwood and Cadley School braved the big chop on Friday after growing her hair for four years.

Fosters Hair Company in Up Holland cut her hair for free. On the day, her father, James, said she was really good, and even had the ‘nervous giggles’ after cutting the first plait off herself.

She has already raised £730, beating her initial target of £700 for the charity – the cost of making just one wig.

Her parents, Sara and James said: “Keziah loved having her beautiful long hair, which she grew for about four years, it comes from her Moroccon side of the family so she’s always been very proud of it!

“She’s naturally compassionate. When she heard about other children who had cancer and lost their hair she was moved by it and determined to do something.

“We’re so proud of her. She’s getting use to the new style now and we’re impressed she adjusted to it.

“Everyone has been so generous too. A few days ago we were at 50 per cent of the target and now we’ve made even more. If we could make anything else Keziah would be so pleased – it could go towards another child’s wig.”

You can donate to her JustGiving page here.
