A bus provider has launched a ‘full investigation’ after a service went up in flames close to Deepdale Retail Park.

Fire crews were called to the incident, thought to be a school service, at around 9am this morning (12 February). It is understood that there were no passengers on board at the time of the fire.

Preston Bus said they are undertaking a full investigation but they believe that an electrical fault has taken place.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said: “At 09:00, two fire engines from Preston attended a double-decker bus on fire on Blackpool Road, Preston.

“Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.”

A spokesperson for Preston Bus told Blog Preston: “We are performing a full investigation into how this has occurred, however I can advise that we believe this to be an electrical fault.”
