Man, 42, arrested after £900 of sports clothing taken from Fishergate Shopping Centre store

Nearly £1,000 worth of clothing was taken from a sportswear store in Preston city centre.

Preston Police say they arrested a 42-year-old man, from Preston, at the scene in the Fishergate Shopping Centre.

There was police activity at the Sports Direct store around 2.15pm on Monday 24 February after reports of clothing and other items worth around £900 being taken.

The man is being questioned on suspicion of theft from the shop and remains in custody.

During Tuesday (25 February) afternoon police confirmed Michael O’Reilly, 42, of Floyd Road, Ribbleton, was charged with theft from a shop and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court during Tuesday afternoon.
