INDIANAPOLIS is fighting to keep the NFL Scouting Combine in the city.

Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts, has long been the home of the Scouting Combine.

NFL Draft prospects have displayed their talent in front of scouts in Indianapolis since 1987.

The city wants to make sure it stays that way, but it is possible that things change in the future.

In 2021, the NFL allowed cities to start placing bids on becoming the future host of the Scouting Combine.

The current contract for Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center next door ends after the 2026 edition of the Scouting Combine.

By the time 2027 rolls around, the Scouting Combine could be run outside of Indianapolis for the first time in 40 years.

If the combine did leave Indianapolis, these cities with indoor stadiums could take over as hosts.

  • Dallas
  • Detroit
  • Houston
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Minneapolis
  • Nashville (currently building an indoor stadium)
  • New Orleans
  • Phoenix

During the 2023 Scouting Combine, the NFL hosted representatives from Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Nashville, and Phoenix to discuss the event.

While they won’t be doing the same during this year’s combine, there is still interest in moving the event.

“We understand there are a number of markets interested in exploring hosting the event,” an NFL spokesperson told Front Office Sports.

“Our focus is on staging a successful combine in Indianapolis [this] week and in 2026.”

The NFL Scouting Combine is already underway, with the first players arriving to Indianapolis on Sunday.

Interviews began on Monday, and the first on-field workouts begin on Wednesday.

The event ends on Monday, March 3.

While some of the nation’s top prospects will show off their talents during the draft, many players have already announced that they won’t participate in workouts.

NFL important dates 2025 season

March 12 – Free Agency begins

April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin

September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)

November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Penn State’s Abdul Carter are two of the biggest names not working out.

Many of the players who will be drafted at the top of the first round won’t have their stock changed much by combine performances.

The event is a great place for sleepers to show off their talent.
