Nike release new Super Bowl commercial ‘taking aim’ at Patrick Mahomes following Eagles destruction of Chiefs

NIKE have released a new commercial which has fans convinced it is “taking aim” at Patrick Mahomes.

The Kansas City Chiefs star struggled to hit his usual heights as his side lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nike have since released a new ad to celebrate the Eagles’ victory.

The video was posted on Instagram and is made up of clips of the team’s successes throughout the season.

The closing caption read: “If you can’t fly, soar.”

The post was captioned: “It’s good to be green”

However, during the video, the voice of the Muppet’s character, Kermit could be heard singing.

The use of the character could just be due to his green colouring but fans are convinced otherwise.

Many believe Kermit is the vocal doppelganger to Mahomes, 29, and that the use of his voice was a subtle dig by the sports brand.

Fans reacted to the video in the comment section, finding it hilarious.

One wrote: “I’m in tears for the sentiment and in tears at the absolute roast of paddy.”

A second posted: “Using Kermit for this was diabolical.”

A third commented: “Using KERMIT’s VOICE IS THE NASTIEST OF WORKS!”

A fourth said: “Knowing he sounds like Pat Mahomes! just know Nike got villainous collaborations in the works.”

Another added: “Can’t believe they got Mahomes to sing.”

It is not the first time Mahomes has been compared to Kermit.

In November, Buffalo Bills fans were slammed for hanging a Kermit doll in a no.15 jersey from a tree.

Chiefs team-mate Travis Kelce has also compared Mahomes to the much-loved childhood character.
