A young boy from Penwortham has become one of Mensa’s newest members with his IQ being in the top 0.5 per cent.
Maxwell Peake, joined the world’s leading high IQ society after being assessed before he was even four and a half years old. They found his mathematical ability is higher than 99.9% of the population.
His parents said they knew he was ‘bright’ from an early age when he began to hit all his milestones early, showing signs of his intelligence as young as 17 months old.

By two years old Maxwell could name and describe over 100 trains and he was reading Stephen Hawking books by three years old.
At this age, he had also memorised things such as the countries of the world, the periodic table, world flags and the human body.
This is when his family realised Maxwell was more than ‘just bright’.

At nursery, his key worker, Amy, nurtured his abilities by researching the solar system and studying maps with Maxwell.
His dad said Maxwell learnt so much about the social system in detail that even he had to research it himself to be able to converse with him.
By this point, Maxwell’s parents turned to Mensa for support, as they were struggling to keep him challenged and entertained.

His parents said: “We are so proud of Maxwell. We always knew he was more than just bright and that there was something extra special about him.
“For Mensa to confirm that he has an exceptionally high IQ, and for them to provide support means that Maxwell can use his gift to reach his full potential as he navigates through his school life.
“Everyone calls him Young Sheldon so watch this space!”
Maxwell has just started school and is aiming to be an astrophysicist. He hopes one day to discover a new exoplanet. Before Christmas, he met one his heroes, Tim Peake.
