A play about one relationship and infinite possibilities is coming to Preston.
Constellations – described as a sparkling love story – will be performed by a cast of third year UCLan Acting students at St Peter’s Arts Centre.
The final show of the group’s 2025 season, Constellations is written by Nick Payne, who recently wrote the film We Live in Time.
The play will be directed by Joe Sumsion. Joe has previously worked as a director at The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster.

Ed Walker from UCLan Acting said: “Constellations is a play about free will and friendship; it’s about quantum multiverse theory, chance and honey. And it’s a sparkling love story, given an intriguing new twist as part of UCLan Acting’s 21st anniversary season.
“It’s been so much fun working on this play and we can’t wait for people to see it – it’s Constellations like you’ve never seen it before!”
A review in The Independent said of Constellations: “An astonishingly fine new play… As a critic, one would be hard put to begin to do justice to the dazzling way it creates its own rules, while at the same time being wise enough not to jettison the old rule book either.”
Constellations will be playing twice a day at St Peter’s Arts Centre from Wednesday 26 February to Saturday 1 March.
The shows are on at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with the weekday matinee performances free to watch and evenings priced at £15 full and £5 concessions. The Thursday afternoon BSL Interpreted Performance show has sold out.
Age guidance is 14+, with a warning that Constellations contains strong language and includes scenes that some people may find difficult to watch, including occasional acts of violence, and discussion of death and declining health.
Tickets are available from TicketSource.
