A WALMART shopper has blasted the retailer after being forced to use the self-checkout for a specific payment method.
Taking to X, the angry customer ranted about the chain’s checkout policies and claimed to know why they were prevented from using a certain payment method at one type of checkout.

Other shoppers are fuming about another payment issue at the chain that has seen people abandon their carts (stock)[/caption]
The shopper wrote: “Our Walmart stopped accepting CASH in the lines that have ACTUAL HUMAN WORKERS.
“They say if you’re using cash you need to use self-checkout!”
“I told them I don’t work there, and then I found out it’s because none of the workers can count change back,” she added.
Walmart did not respond to her complaint on the social media platform and The U.S. Sun has reached out for comment.
Her comments came after another user shared their money-saving hacks.
They tackled easy ways of spending, saying that shoppers lose a lot of money because they are “addicted to convenience.”
But while some are struggling to pay in cash, others have launched numerous rants at the chain for another form of payment.
While shoppers may be “addicted” to convenience, Walmart is not offering it to many customers, some have claimed.
On X numerous shoppers have demanded that the nation’s largest retailer implement contactless payment options.
One wrote: “Went to Walmart and got to checkout just to forget no Apple Pay.
“This the 3rd time I’ve had to leave s*** at register. This has got to stop @Walmart.”
“Had like a $200+ cart.. just to find out Walmart doesn’t accept any kind of tap payment. In 2025…” another said.
She revealed that she had to put her cart full of items back, calling the decision by Walmart “strange.”
“I hate that I can’t use Apple Pay there! It’s so stupid,” a third added.
“They’re one of the biggest companies. It’s 2025. Come on!”
Others have said that the refusal from Walmart to install the payment method means they will not visit any of its over 4,600 stores.
The main reason the retailer will not implement Apple Pay is that it wants to encourage shoppers to use Walmart Pay.
This is a Walmart mobile application, which offers a similar digital wallet feature.
“We would like to have the customer open our app in the store all the time,” Walmart CEO Doug McMillion said of the policy while speaking on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.
“That’s one of the things [Walmart Pay] that we would like people to use our app for.”
Meanwhile, The U.S. Sun has reported on a leaked memo from Walmart revealing why the chain is axing hundreds of jobs and the impact this will have on shoppers.
Why doesn't Walmart offer Apple Pay?
CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don't offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.
Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”
The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.
“That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for,” he said.
