The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustaining the rehabilitation of the Chibok girls, applauding their remarkable academic achievements at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola.

During her visit to AUN, where 68 survivors are undergoing rehabilitation, the Minister praised the young women for their strength and determination in overcoming the hardships they endured.

“I want to assure you that everybody here is important, and your voice will be heard. We will work together to ensure that not just the empowered women of Chibok, but everyone who seeks to contribute, can reach their full potential and support the emergence of the Nigeria World Dream,” she stated.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim highlighted the federal government’s increased investment in programmes supporting vulnerable groups.

“For the first time, we’re seeing an almost 1,000 percent rise in our budget. It means we can do more for women and for children and for families and for the vulnerable in Nigeria.

She commended the Chibok girls for their perseverance and resilience, adding, “You all have done so well for yourselves; it is one thing for people to experience life. It is another thing for people to have the bounce back ability to be able to rise above it. Life happens.”

The President of AUN, Prof. DeWayne Frazier, lauded the students, describing them as the most intelligent and strong women who have adapted well to their environment and excelled in their academic pursuits.

“They have worked hard, overcome numerous challenges, and continue to make us proud,” he said.

The Chibok girls were among those kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014. Their journey from captivity to education and empowerment remains a symbol of resilience.

During the visit, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim presented educational materials and cash gifts to the students, reinforcing the government’s dedication to their well-being and future success.
