
A man has died after a crash in Fulwood.
Preston Police closed off Cadley Causeway shortly after 8.30am on Sunday (2 March).
Emergency services attended and tried to revive the driver of the car after he hit a bollard outside the Spar store at the junction with Woodplumpton Road.
Police say the driver, who was in his 70s, was unresponsive at the scene and despite the best efforts of emergency crews was pronounced dead soon after being taken to hospital.
One car, a silver Hyundai, was involved in the crash and Cadley Causeway was closed off for four hours while accident investigation work took place.
Detective Sergeant Matt Davidson from the serious collision investigation unit said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the man involved in the collision this morning. They are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
“I am now asking for any witnesses who have not been spoken to by officers at the scene to make contact with us. Likewise, anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident is encouraged to come forward to assist us investigate what happened.”
Cadley Causeway has now re-opened to traffic but police remain at the scene outside the Spar store.
