The 25-year-old is in line for a massive contract extension as he will play in the final year of his rookie deal in the 2025 season[/caption]

Parsons will be playing in the final year of his rookie contract in 2025.

He will look to receive an extension that could make him the highest-paid non-quarterback after the Cleveland Browns extended Myles Garrett to a deal that is $40 million per year.

So, of course, the voicetrous Parsons made sure to post a cryptic post on X.

“It’s my time,” he wrote, along with a Lion emoji on the social media platform.

So, there were plenty of theories as to what Parsons was referring to.

Some thought that he showed his desire to be the highest-paid player, excluding the quarterback position in the league.

Others thought that, due to the Lions emoji, Parsons hinted that he wanted to be traded to the Detroit Lions.

Cowboys fans threw cold water on that cold notion, however, as they pointed out that Parsons’ emoji references the fact that he played for the Penn State Nittany Lions and has used the animal as his persona.

But there were also fans who think that Parsons took a shot at former Cowboys star defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence.

Lawrence left the Cowboys to sign a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday – the same day Parsons made the X post.

The two played alongside each other for several years, and the post hinted that he’s ready to step up and be the true veteran leader of ‘America’s Favorite Team.’

Nonetheless, Parsons is one of the best defenders in the NFL, and there is a reason why he will likely get paid as such.

In just four campaigns, he already has 52.5 sacks and 256 tackles.

Parsons has earned three first-team All-Pro nods and Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

The Cowboys have restructured contracts to stars CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott to likely have room to extend the Penn State product.

They haven’t had the appetite to spend much money in free agency – a plan that Jerry Jones revealed last month.

While the Cowboys did extend Osa Odighizuwa, who signed a four-year, $80 million contract last week, the only noteworthy free agency signings have been veteran Solomon Thomas and running back JaVonte Williams.

They also traded for former Buffalo Bills’ 2022 first-round pick Kaair Elam.
