A key road through Longridge was closed after a cash machine outside a shop was raided.

Berry Lane was closed due to what police described as a ‘police incident’ but what appears to be a raid involving the Co-op cash machine.

The cash machine itself is missing this morning (14 March) while the store exterior has also sustained damage. The Co-op signage can be seen hanging.

Police reported that the road was closed at around 3.42am this morning but it is not yet clear when the incident occurred. The road is now reopen but a cordon around the store is still in place.

A spokesperson for police said earlier: “Berry Lane Longridge is currently closed due to a police incident. Please avoid the area.”
