Ribble Valley MP praises facilities in Preston College for aiding Lancashire’s housebuilding targets

In a visit to a Fulwood College, Maya Ellis MP of Ribble Valley, said they provide helpful facilities to support the region’s housebuilding targets.

During her recent tour of Preston College, Fulwood, Maya Ellis praised the overall provision, particularly the facilities within the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology.

The Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology is a collaboration of colleges and employers that ensures technical training to give learners the skills to help the economy thrive.

She said the college’s involvement in the Institution will be fundamental to meeting Lancashire’s minimum annual housebuilding targets.

Joined by Preston College principal, Simon Nixon, she viewed the college’s provision in its Institute of Technology specialist areas of construction, health and engineering.

Maya said: “Preston College and the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology are well placed to support the next wave of housebuilding we need in Lancashire.”

The tour also viewed the IoT’s engineering provision in Preston College’s iSTEM building, with facilities that are made to replicate industry-leading software.

Following her visit, Maya, who represents a swathe of the north of the city which is within the Ribble Valley constituency, added: “I’m going to go back to Parliament and will shout about Preston College and the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology as an incredible example of how a local economy is pulling together employer needs.”
