Work has started to kit out the interior of a new fried chicken restaurant set to open in Preston.

MB Chicken, a chain originating in Canada as Mary Brown’s which has opened in London and Belfast as part of its UK franchising expansion, is coming to Miller Arcade in what was once the Fino Tapas pop-up restaurant.

The business’s head office said that Preston’s university setting was important in the decision to open.

Dylan Powell, vice president for international development at MB Chicken told Blog Preston: “The reason we chose Preston is a combination of the right partner and the right location. The location is close to the university which is a key demographic.

“The town also has a rich cultural demographic, much like large parts of Canada, and we know our menu appeals to a diverse customer base.

“The partners we are working with have deep understanding of this local market and are connected to the community. That authentic connection will ensure we become a beloved Preston destination location.”

A minimum of 25 jobs are expected to be created as a result of the opening and MB Chicken are aiming for a April opening date – though concede that may change.

A planning application, on behalf of Mr Sohail Munawar, has been submitted for a repainted shopfront and internal screens at the restaurant which requires consent due to Miller Arcade being a grade II listed building.
