The attack took place at 5.40pm.

The woman was taken to hospital and had a minor bite injury to her arm.

A police spokesperson confirmed to Blog Preston the breed of dog was an XL Bully which was banned last year in England and Wales unless an exemption certificate was held.

A police spokesperson said: “The owner of the dog voluntarily signed the dog over and it was taken to a vet, where it was humanely put to sleep.”
