Preston-based record label Crackedankles is hosting a two-day festival at The Ferret.
Founded in 2016, the label has had over 20 bands from the North West and beyond on its roster. Releases have had worldwide press and airplay on major stations, with one ex-Crackedankler, HotWax, breaking into the UK Top 40 album chart last month.
The Crackedankles Weekend will see 12 bands who have worked with the label playing across Friday 2 May and the already sold out Saturday 3 May.
Friday 2 May
Local lads Sugarstone will headline on the day they launch debut album, Mature Themes. They are joined by Baboon, a Preston band that has recently come out of hibernation and features members of Cornershop, Blank Students, and Evil Blizzard.
Whinge, who recently released their debut album on the label, join the Friday lineup alongside Mancunian Stooges-scuzz rockers Dead Stilettos. Evil Blizzard’s Filthydirty will open proceedings with a solo performance.

Saturday 3 May
This all-day affair will see bands from further afield perform at The Ferret, starting with drone noise outfit Empty Cut, then ZD Grafters with their parole jazz cacophonous sound, and the ‘tripped out Devo’ of Chum.
After the beautiful modular synth soundscapes of internationally-acclaimed local artist Polypores, things will turn a lot heavier with Agit-pop trio TV Face, then Michael, which is one for fans of Melvins, The Jesus Lizard and Black Sabbath.

Evil Blizzard will close the festival with a ‘greatest misses’ set. The only Preston band to ever headline the Guild Hall main stage, Blizzard have sold tens of thousands of albums and have graced daytime TV and front covers of national newspapers.

A Crackedankles spokesperson said: “The whole weekend is intended as a celebration, with raffles, rarities, an exclusive-to-the-weekend free compilation CD for those first through the doors, and drinks promotions.
“The event promises to be a smorgasbord of styles for the more inquisitive and open minded music fan.”
Priced at £8, tickets for the Friday night of the Crackedankles Weekend are still available via The Ferret’s website.
