Temporary traffic lights have been erected on Chapel Hill, Longridge.

Put in place as works take place by Aptus Utilities to connect water to the adjacent housing development, the two way lights will be in place until 18 April. The work started on 7 April.

The roadworks are not only outside the housing estate, but also Longridge’s county council tip and St Cecilia’s secondary school.

Blog Preston reported back in December how the housing development on Chapel Hill, which at times has stood vacant in recent years as building work stalled, was seeking to moved forward again.

Applicant Karl Illingworth, of Stockport Developments Ltd in Greater Manchester, wanted to vary conditions in an updated plan for 52 new houses, conversion of a former barn and refurbishment of an existing house at 53 Chapel Hill in Longridge.

However, the application led to objections from 16 households including the potential loss of open space, footpath and road changes, the site’s impact on a conservation area and accusations of ‘unlawfully dumped’ soil.
