Motorists are seeing long delays on the M6 southbound after a vehicle fire.

Two lanes are closed on the M61 spur at Junction 30 southbound.

National Highways North West is reporting delays back to Junction 32 M6 southbound – with delays of at least half-an-hour as of 3.20pm on Friday and building.

There’s also delays building on the M61 northbound past the scene where the motorway joins the M6.

The fire took place around 2.30pm on Friday (4 April).

Blog Preston has approached Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for comment.

Congestion is already building around Preston as schools break up for Easter holidays with the RAC warning of more than 21 million drivers attempting journeys during the course of this weekend.
