A Wisconsin judge has been arrested by federal authorities over allegations that she attempted to help an undocumented immigrant avoid arrest during a court appearance.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was taken into custody by the US Marshals Service on Friday morning, the agency confirmed to CBS News.

The arrest stems from a courtroom incident involving Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican national facing three misdemeanor battery charges related to a physical altercation. According to reports, officers from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were present during Flores-Ruiz’s court appearance on April 18.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Judge Dugan allegedly directed Flores-Ruiz and his attorney toward a side door in the courtroom, potentially allowing him to avoid contact with ICE officers.

An X post by FBI Director Kash Patel—published and then deleted minutes later—claimed that Judge Dugan “knowingly allowed” Flores-Ruiz to escape federal custody. Flores-Ruiz was later apprehended and did attend his scheduled hearing.
