A woman is fighting for life after she was run over by her own car during an alleged carjacking at a hospital in Melbourne's south-east.

The 66-year-old woman was escorting her husband from her car in the car park of Casey Hospital in Berwick around 10.45am when a man who had just left the hospital allegedly jumped into the driver's seat of her car.

She allegedly tried to stop him driving away and was struck by the moving car.
