The driver of a car which hit two pedestrians leaving them in hospital has been arrested.

South Ribble Police closed Golden Hill Lane at the junction with Chapel Brow during Friday afternoon.

A 24-year-old man from Leyland has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Two pedestrians – both male and one in his 20s and the other a teenager – were taken to hospital for treatment after the incident at 4.22pm on Friday 2 May.

The roads remained closed throughout Friday evening as police worked at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, who has information or dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1034 of 2 May.
