Police have a man in custody after an attack on a woman in the Broadgate area during Tuesday evening.

A 20-year-old man from Leyland was arrested on suspicion of section-18 wounding.

Preston Police have maintained a police presence and cordon at Broadgate gardens at the corner of the Strand Road and Fishergate Hill junction.

And patrols have been stepped up across the Broadgate area in response to what police say was an ‘isolated incident’.

They were called to Royal Preston Hospital during Tuesday (20 May) evening after a woman attended with injuries and said she had been assaulted and threatened with a knife.

Police said the woman, in her 30s, received a slash injury to her arm during an altercation.

Anyone with information or footage of the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1328 of 20 May.
