There will be long delays on the M6 through the morning after a lorry fire triggered a ‘complex recovery operation’.
Two lanes of four are closed on the M6 northbound between junction 20 and 21 due to a lorry fire. There are also delays on the M6 southbound between junction 23 and 22, although these are now easing.
National Highways: North West reported the closures at around 6.30am this morning (27 May) but there are now around 50 minutes of delays and four miles of congestion in the area.

The lorry in question was transporting a load of grain and the recovery efforts are focusing on transporting that load, which is why delays may be longer than usual due to the fire.
National Highways: North West warns that long delays are expected until the incident has been fully resolved.
