A woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol after a crash on Saturday evening on a key rural road in Preston.

Newsham Hall Lane between Woodplumpton and Broughton was closed off by emergency services from 5.13pm.

Preston Police were called to the scene on Saturday 24 May after a Ford Focus, driven by the 27-year-old woman from Thornton Cleveleys, had hit a tree.

A male passenger was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

Police are not appealing for witnesses or further information at this stage.

The road was closed throughout most of Saturday evening.
