Rust director Joel Souza basically said he’d rather batter himself than watch Alec Baldwin’s family reality show.

The filmmaker was unsparring while talking to The Guardian about the western, whose cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed during the making of the film in 2021. The bullet also struck Souza, lodging itself in his shoulder.

“I wish I never wrote the damn movie.” he said of Rust, which finally had its theatrical release on Friday.

And while Souza told The Guardian he only returned to the project because Hutchins’ family wanted the film to be completed, he said he has less than zero interest in any of Baldwin’s other ventures.

“I think I was busy hitting myself in the face with a frying pan that night [it aired],” he said of the actor’s widely panned TLC series, The Baldwins.

Souza’s previous remarks about Rust’s leading actor and producer have been nothing short of cold.

“We’re not friends,” the filmmaker told Vanity Fair last summer. “We’re not enemies. There’s no relationship.”

Baldwin was wielding the firearm that killed Hutchins, but maintains he did nothing to set off the trigger and was not responsible for checking if the prop gun was loaded with live ammunition, as it mistakenly was on the day of the incident.

He was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing last summer when his involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed upon accusations prosecutors had withheld evidence.
