This week’s new releases are slightly more limited, with the biggest new films having already debuted earlier in the week. Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning and Lilo & Stitch are the headline new releases, and they are joined by plenty of incredible films available across cinemas in Preston. 

However, from Wednesday, Karate Kid: Legends will be arriving early on screens across Preston.

These are the unique listings for Preston’s local cinemas from Friday, the 23rd to Thursday, the 29th of May.

While the new releases are generally limited this week, a brand new Wes Anderson film is joining the lineup at The Arc Cinema exclusively. As with all of Anderson’s films, it features a star-studded cast, mystery, intrigue, and a beautifully unique cinematic style.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Flow won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film over competitive entries like Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, from Preston’s own Nick Park. The film features a beautiful animated style and is free from any human speech. Instead, it features a wide variety of real animal sounds. An engaging watch for the entire family to enjoy.

Goldbeak

Goldbeak came out in China in 2021, but with the rise in popularity of animated films from that market, Goldbeak has been redubbed and adapted for a global market. A film about a young eagle raised by chickens who sets out to find where he belongs. A solid choice for viewers with young children.

David Attenborough is a national treasure who has narrated numerous wildlife and nature documentaries, drawing attention to the beauty and majesty of the world and nature. And this week, his documentary continues to be screened in both The Flower Bowl and the Odeon. However, be mindful that each cinema is approaching the release slightly differently, with some listing it as an event screening.

Mr. Burton

Mr. Burton is a British biographical drama about the life of the popular actor, Richard Burton. The film explores the early life of the actor. The film will be available exclusively in The Flower Bowl throughout the week.

The Penguin Lessons

Steve Coogan stars in this story based on true events. When an older gentleman finds himself fed up with life, politics, and relationships, he learns to see the world differently and reignites his passion thanks to one of the most unlikely new friends, a small penguin. It’s heartwarming, and Coogan is exceptional in the role.

The Royal Ballet: Ballet to Broadway – Wheeldon Works

Sunday

The Royal Ballet returns to screens across Preston with an incredible three-hour ensemble of four distinctive shorts. This feature will include Fool’s Paradise, The Two of Us, Us, An American in Paris. It’s being described as musical theatre meets ballet.

Flight Risk

The Arc Cinema – Book Here

Monday, Thursday

Flight Risk was released in January of this year, but for those who missed it, it’s returning to The Arc Cinema twice this week. The Monday screening is for the general public, while the Thursday showing is exclusively a part of The Arc’s Silver Screen offer for over 60s. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery, and Topher Grace in a twisty action thriller directed by Mel Gibson.

Six The Musical Live!

Monday

Six The Musical is a comedy stage show that depicts a modern-day retelling of Henry VIII tragic relationship with his six wives. The film sees each woman take their turn to recount their experience. While Odeon held on to the show for several weeks after its initial release, it returns to Vue this week for a one-off show.
