A city centre restaurant has announced it will close with immediate effect.

Twist, at Guildhall Street, had been serving Mediterranean food including pizza, souvlaki, sandwiches and desserts for three-and-a-half years.

The restaurant thanked its customers and staff for ‘every meal shared and every celebration held’ in announcing the closure.

A spokesperson for Twist said: “After three-and-a-half amazing years, we’ve made the incredibly tough decision to close our doors.

“This journey has meant the world to us filled with unforgettable memories, laughter, and the best community anyone could ask for.

“We’re so thankful for every meal shared, every celebration held, and every kind word you’ve given us.”

In 2024, the owners were forced to dismiss rumours of a closure after the premises was listed on Facebook Marketplace for £1. They said at the time they had no idea who had posted the advert.

Twist was visited by Blog Preston reviewers in 2023 and praised as being in the ‘top echelon’ of the best places for lunch in Preston city centre.

The site was previously Paluca’s.

The most recent food hygiene inspection, carried out by Preston City Council, found that improvement was necessary in issuing a score of two. That inspection took place on 8 January, 2025.
