Ribchester Field Day organisers have hailed the success of this year’s event after a busy weekend.
With Field Day itself held on Saturday, 21 June, the weekend started with a bang on the Friday evening with a sold out show in the main marquee by Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society. With almost 200 people in attendance, the traditional curtain raiser to Ribchester Field Day weekend proved as popular as ever.
On Saturday, the high quality parade left Bee Mill at 1pm and made its way through the village to the park, where children’s games and attractions were waiting to welcome families dodging the odd shower throughout the afternoon.

With local band BlowJangles entertaining crows in the afternoon and DJ Becky B keeping the kids’ disco going from 6pm, it proved to be another well-supported event. On Sunday, the weekend was rounded off with the traditional village tea party in the marquee as the rain fell outside.
Will Thomas, who took over as Ribchester Field Day chairman this year from David Smith, praised the volunteers who made the event happen and said it was great to see the village supporting the annual festivities once again.
