A Yamaha motorbike rider remains in hospital after being seriously injured in a crash on the M6.

Lancashire Police is appealing for witnesses to the crash or anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

The motorway was closed in both directions after the biker, a man in his 20s, hit the crash barrier near Junction 28 for Leyland.

Police were called at 6.23pm on Saturday 7 June and closed off the M6 southbound exit slip road after finding the biker and the blue Yamaha YZF-R3 motorbike.

A full motorway closure was then needed for the North West Air Ambulance as the biker was flown to hospital where police say he remains in a ‘serious but stable’ condition.

The exit slip road remained closed by emergency services throughout much of Saturday evening before fully re-opening.

No other vehicles are understood to have been involved in the crash.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1085 of 7th June or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@lancashire.police.uk
