A new mega nursery is due to open in June next year in Cottam.
Standing over three storeys the Brambles Nursery will have space for up to 230 children.
It is to be built on land off Haydocks Lane behind the Cottam Hall Community Centre.

The nursery was approved after a previous plan for new shops and flats on the site was abandoned in September last year.
Inside the nursery will include sleep rooms, a sensory soft play area and a secure roof garden on the third floor. Outside there will be a covered play area and a landscaped forest play space.
A 26-space car park with two electric charging points and cycle parking have also been approved.
Work is set to begin this week on the Haydocks Lane site and the first group of children, with an intake from newborn to aged five, are due to be welcomed in September 2026 once work is finished in June.

Managing director of BDMA Holdings, who are behind the scheme, Matthew Wiggans, said: “This nursery has been a dream of my wife’s for as long as I can remember. She’s been in early years education since she was 16, and it’s something she’s incredibly passionate about.
“We’ve seen how fast the area is growing, there are more and more young families moving in, but not enough places that really meet their needs. We wanted to do something about that. The nursery will have a forest school feel, with learning that’s really shaped around each child in a space where they can thrive, explore, and be themselves.”
Approval for the nursery, which will create 45 new jobs, was won by PWA Planning.
Edward James from the firm said: “This approval represents a major milestone in bringing high-quality, accessible childcare to Cottam, an area which has seen huge residential growth in the past few years.
“This nursery fits right in with the goals of the Central Lancashire Core Strategy, supporting sustainable growth, strengthening community infrastructure, and prioritising good design. On top of that, it’s bringing new job opportunities to the area. We’re proud to have played a part in a project that’s going to make a meaningful difference for local families.”
