A dance group from Preston have performed in a sold-out show at His Majesty’s Theatre.

The 26 dancers, aged from five to 16, from the My Stage Company group met former Dance Moms star and media personality Jojo Siwa at Pineapple Dance Studios.

Becki Heaton, the owner and director of the Ashton-on-Ribble based dancers, said: “This event is huge for us; our dancers train up to six days a week with us, studying all styles of dance and performing arts”

“Our team of teachers work tirelessly to give the best training we can and are always seeking opportunities to let our students shine.”

The stage school, having previously performed on the illustrious stages of Broadway and even Disney Land Paris felt honoured to get the opportunity to perform at the West End.

Becki said: “We love fulfilling our dancers’ dreams and creating real stars of the future. The parents are just as excited as the dancers, what an amazing thing to be able to say you’ve performed in London’s West End as a child.”

The performance, that was attended by more than 1,000 people at His Majesty’s Theatre, provided Preston’s dancing stars with the opportunity to show off their dancing skills.

“A select number of schools across the UK have been invited to showcase their dancers and choreography in London’s West End. Each school could take up to 28 dancers and get to perform 2 productions choreographed by their teachers alongside a huge finale number with all the other schools attending.”

One dancer named Alexia, aged 12 said “I am so excited to be able to experience performing in London with my dance family. Turning up to rehearsals every week to now feels un-real. I can’t wait to perform!”

Another dancer, named Eliza expressed her joy at being able to perform in London, and said, “London, we’re ready to bring our passion to the stage, oh my how lucky we are!”

Dancer Kira’s family said that in the past they had tried to get to get her into dancing, but she had no interest until she met the “wonderful professionals from MSC Studio. I don’t know how they managed it, but my daughter goes to every training session, enjoys participating in competitions, and now has a wonderful chance to perform on the legendary stage at His Majesty’s Theatre. Thanks again to the whole team.”

Becki said that putting on these shows is a team effort, with every student and their family playing a part.

“All of the parents know each other, and help with costumes and sewing costumes, the older students look after the younger students and are all best friends.”

Speaking about the students and their passion for dancing and performing on the big stage, she also said: “The excitement and rehearsals have really helped encourage teamwork and create lovely friendships; they have shown dedication and resilience through the hours of rehearsals.”

“Their dance and performance skills have improved as they want to shine, they want to make their parents proud and show everyone how hard they have worked.”
