There are long delays on the M6 and surrounding road network after a vehicle fire.

Crews from Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service were called to the scene of a fire on the M6 at around midday today (28 June).

The fire has been extinguished and all lanes on the M6 are reopen but there are long delays on both the M6 and M61 as a result of earlier traffic.

There are also delays on the A6 between Bamber Bridge and Walton-le-Dale and on Leyland Road between Penwortham and Lostock Hall due to traffic leaving the M6.

Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume within the next hour, according to Traffic England.
