A trainer enthusiast from Preston has set up his own cleaning business to breathe new life into much loved sneakers.

Jordan Butterworth, 27, from Ashton, has set up Klean Kicks Preston and hopes the cleaning service will appeal to trainer lovers in the city and beyond.

Jordan, whose full-time job is as a support worker for children in care, said with new trainers often getting grubby very quickly, his new service could have broad appeal.

He said: “I have always taken pride in my trainers and have always wanted to run my own business, so I thought I would give this a go. I do shift work in my main job so I can do this in my time off.

“It’s the price of trainers now which is the thing. They are often so expensive that my cleaning service, costing around £30 for a full clean, might be a good option for people looking to get more life out of their trainers.”

With over 20 pairs of trainers in his own collection, Jordan says his current favourites are New Balance, while premium brand Cleens are also near the top of his list.

Although only early days, he hopes Klean Kicks Preston can establish a strong social media following on Instagram and Facebook and showcase the work he is doing.

He added: “My business offers something a bit different instead of throwing your old trainers away. This might offer an alternative.”
