A number of people have been taken to hospital and there are two hour delays on the M6 due to a serious multi-vehicle crash.
Police were called to the scene of a crash on the M6 between junction 32 and 33 at around 10.30am this morning (14 July).
The nature of the crash meant that police had to close the carriageway in both directions. The northbound carriageway has since reopened but the southbound carriageway was closed.

Drivers are being asked to leave the M6 and divert via the A6 before rejoining the motorway at the M55 and joining the M6.
There are estimated delays of around two hours for those heading southbound and significant delays remain for those heading northbound.
A spokesperson for police said: “Our officers, and other emergency service colleagues remain at the scene and there are a number of casualties who have been taken to hospital.
“The motorway remains closed between Junction 33 and the services southbound and diversions are in place.
“Northbound is open with speed restrictions in place. We anticipate that the southbound motorway will be closed for some time as we and our colleagues continue to respond to the incident.”
