Preston’s school summer holidays look set to get off to a stormy start.

The Met Office has issued a new thunderstorm warning for Monday (21 July).

It follows the yellow weather alert for thunderstorms which was in force throughout much of Saturday (19 July).

The new warning, covering Preston and Lancashire, states “heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to flooding and disruption in a few places on Monday.”

The yellow weather warning for Monday runs from 11am to 9pm.

Although no thunderstorm warning is in force for Sunday (20 July) there’s a strong chance of heavy rain showers from Sunday lunchtime onwards according to the latest forecast.
