Gideon Allen, AKA Preston’s part-time witch is making an appearance in the upcoming BBC drama, The Cage.

Filmed in and around Merseyside, The Cage is a new five-part series written by Tony Schumacher, the creator of The Responder.

TV personality Gideon, born in Preston, plays Alex, a barman at The Envoy which is a fictional inner-city casino that becomes the focal point of a dangerous and gripping story involving a robbery gone wrong.

The story centres on Sheridan’s character Leanne and Michaels characters Matty, two casino workers who unknowingly attempt to rob the same safe on the same night. Their actions trigger a tense chain of events involving the police, local gangsters, and fractured relationships.

Alex works the bar at The Envoy, always on the periphery of the action, observing as tensions rise and loyalties unravel.

Gideon spoke about how the opportunity came about.

He said: “The opportunity came about because they were looking for people with bar experience, and I definitely fit the bill, though I’ll admit I usually prefer being on the other side of the bar.

“Filming was an incredible experience; I met so many amazing people, and the whole process was an absolute blast. Acting is something I’d love to do more of, though it’s not always easy to find opportunities.

“That said, I’m a firm believer in chasing what you want, and let’s just say, I might be in for something a little… out of this world. I can’t say too much just yet, but fans of a certain time-traveller might want to keep an eye out.”

Speaking about working on the show and with the cast and crew, Gideon added: “It’s been an incredible experience filming with such a talented cast and crew, especially on a show that puts so much Northern character and energy front and centre.”

The Cage is due to air later this year on BBC One and iPlayer.
