A road close to HMP Preston is closed due to a crash and will remain so for some time, according to police.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at around 7.30pm this evening (8 July) and drivers are asking to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Police said that the road closure is from Deepdale Street to Preston Prison, which would point towards the affected road being Deepdale Road, but did not explicitly say this. Blog Preston has asked Lancashire Constabulary for clarification.

A spokesperson for police said: “We want to update you and let you know that there is a road closure in place from Deepdale Street to the prison due to an RTC.
“We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time whilst we assess the situation.
“In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and avoiding the area.”
