A popular pub in rural Preston will close after news of its sale became ‘common knowledge’ and hit customer numbers.
Owners at The Green Man at Inglewhite will close the pub on 3 August ahead of new owners taking over the business on 26 October.
They said that the adverse effect the sale has had on trade has made it ‘pointless for us to carry on’ and added they will be focusing their efforts at The Eagle and Child in Garstang.

A spokesperson for The Green Man said: “Many factors can contribute to such a difficult decision, including rising costs, changing market conditions, and the challenges of maintaining a successful business.
“However the truth is the premises have been sold and this has become common knowledge.
“Our focus is now on putting all effort and time on our remaining pub The Eagle and Child in Garstang, by pushing it’s trade and developing the B&B facilities. We also look forward to starting a new chapter away from Inglewhite in our own personal lives.
“We want to thank all of our customers through the years, our suppliers and especially the staff new and old.”
