Drivers who ignored a red X warning on the motorway over the weekend can expect to be prosecuted, police have warned.
Emergency services responded to a crash on the M6 close to junction 32 on Monday evening (25 August).
The crash resulted in the closure of lanes on the carriageway with the red X symbols put in place via signage which indicates to drivers that it is illegal and dangerous to drive in them.

Police said that a number of drivers ignored the symbol on Monday and they can expect to receive letters in the post.
A spokesperson for police said: “For all the people who contravened the red “X” on the motorway this evening at a Road Traffic Collision prior to Junction 32 of the M6, you can wait to receive your Notice of Intended Prosecution in the post.
“Failure to provide driver details leads to 6 points on your driving licence and a large fine.”
