A refurbished gym and pool are part of the new look Leyland leisure centre.
Last week’s opening of the refurbished gym and pool at Leyland Leisure Centre showed significant progression in South Ribble Council’s Leisure Improvement Project.
With a full upgrade of gym equipment and a refurbishment of those in need of repair, the leisure centre also saw a replacement of the pool’s surrounding tiles and new poolside viewing windows.

Councillor Clare Hunter, cabinet member for leisure and wellbeing, said: “To see the centre’s refurbishment coming together is brilliant. We made a promise very early on that, where other councils are investing less in their leisure provisions – some closing centres altogether – we would do the opposite and invest.
“Investing in our leisure centres allows our community to have quality and affordable spaces where they can get fit, have fun and live well.
“I’m so pleased that we have the refurbished gym and pool now reopened for people to enjoy!”

The council’s leisure improvement project has been ongoing since 2023 to ensure measures are put in place not only to improve leisure facilities, but to ensure the centres are fit for the future through energy efficiency.
