Barrier repairs on the M6 northbound are set to continue throughout Saturday.
National Highways North West say repair work is ongoing after a crash involving a lorry around 5am on Saturday (16 August).
Initially two lanes were close between Junction 27 (Standish) and Junction 28 (Leyland) on the M6.
This has now been reduced to one lane for the works but the closure is expected to last well into Saturday evening continuing delays.
As of just before 3pm on Saturday delays of half-an-hour past the scene are continuing.
It’s caused gridlock heading northbound as sunseekers head for the coast and the Lakes with traffic diverting off and seeking to go via routes around and through Preston.

A crash involving a motorbike near to Junction 31 (Samlesbury) also added to severe congestion around Saturday lunchtime.
