
A key stretch of motorway near Preston was closed for several hours last night while police dealt with an incident.
Officers were called to the M6 between junction 29 and 30 at around 10.30pm last night (4 August) due to what police described as a concern for welfare incident.
The carriageway was closed in both directions while police managed the situation and diversions were put in place.

The incident was resolved by 2am this morning (5 August) and the motorway was reopened.
Traffic has returned to normal this morning and weather conditions are improving as Storm Floris continues to move north east.
