
A motorway is closed in both directions while police deal with a concern for welfare incident.
Police were called to the scene of the incident on the M61 at around 11.20 on Saturday morning (30 August).
The motorway is closed in both directions between junction 8 for Chorley and junction 6 for Horwich while officers attend the scene.

There are severe delays in both directions on approach to the closure.
A spokesperson for police said: “The M61 is currently closed in both directions between junctions 6 – 8 as our officers deal with a concern for welfare.
“Once it reopens we will post an update so you’re aware.”
A spokesperson for National Highways: North West added: “The M61 in Lancashire is closed in both directions between J8 (Chorley) and J6 (Horwich), due to a police led incident.
“National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance assisting with closures on the approach. Due to the nature of the incident there are no times for the reopening of the carriageway at this stage.”
