A man was arrested after reports of open drug-taking happening in a park area of Deepdale Road.
Police were called to the area, which is bordered by East View and Meadow Street, at around 12.10pm yesterday (14 August). There had been reports of people ‘openly’ taking drugs in the triangle-shaped park area.
Officers attended and a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. He is in custody.

A spokesperson for police said: “At 12.10pm yesterday (14th August), officers from Preston Task Force attended a park area on Deepdale Road following a report of drug taking in the area.
“A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. He’s currently in custody.”
The arrest comes as new rules are implemented in the St Matthew’s and Fishwick areas to dissuade anti-social behaviour.
Under new rules, a number of regulations will be punishable by fixed penalty notices of up to £100.
At the centre of that is a nearby phone box, which often finds itself engaged with drug-taking, defecation and prostitution.
